Q1 How many times have you played in our chess tournament?

I think I have been here four times.

Q2 How do you feel? 你觉得怎么样？
I think this is an amazing tournament. I mean this year also, the level of competition is super strong. There are several masters.…… And I’m amazed at the level here, several strong experts and also strong players, who are not experts that are very strong so I have no hope of getting into the Top 12, I made No. 12 last year, but I got no hope this year of getting may even the first 20, but I’m enjoying it a lot. This is a fantastic venue inside the shopping mall and this bookstore is very beautiful.
这是个很棒的比赛，今年也一样。比赛的水平非常高，而且有几位大师……今年比赛选手们的水平非常高，有很多职业选手和强劲的高手。所以今年我完全拿不到前12.去年我拿了第12名，但是我感觉今年能拿到前20名已经不错了。但是我很高兴。这个书店比赛场地也很漂亮很赞。

It is my fourth time.

Q4 As you've been a champion in the past, do you have anything you’d like to share about the tournament?
你以前拿过冠军，你对今年的比赛有什么看法？
It’s a very good tournament, much better people better level than last year, so I feel itwill be challenging to win this year, it’s almost impossible.这是个非常好的比赛，很多更厉害的选手。所以我觉得今年要赢是个很大的挑战，几乎不可能。

第一次参加中外国际象棋比赛。This is my first time to participating the international chess tournament.
Q6 How do you feel?
您觉得怎么样？
很开心。开心了一天了今天。我的观点是，活到老学到老，老年人要多动动脑筋，不会得老年痴呆症。年轻人也要学棋，学棋以后，特别是小孩子，学了以后提高他的思维能力，想象力丰富。
I'm very happy. I amhappy the whole day.
My point of view is that “No one is too old to learn”. The elderly people should use theirbrainwhich can keep them away from Alzheimer's. The youth should learn chess too, especially young kids, their ability of thinking and imagination will get improved.

Q7 How do you feel about this tournament?
您感觉这次活动怎么样？
我觉得挺好，在中国搞这个外国人的比赛以前都不多见。所以我觉得深圳这么开展这个，现在第七届。我觉得应该办下去，我觉得很多外国棋手他从生出来就懂得怎么下了。所以给他们这个平台的话觉得大家交流挺好的。
I think it’s really good. It’s not normal to see such kind of tournament in China. So I think it’s great to have it here in Shenzhen, and now it’s the 7thyear. I think you should continue. Many foreignersknow how to play chess naturally. So it’s a very good chance for them to be able to communicate.
Q8 Do you still practice often?
您平时经常练习吗？
这倒是挺重要的。我呢其实现在不在一线这么下棋了。但是我做教练，我刚刚一个星期前才在西班牙带完世界少年赛。所以其实我自己不下，但我还是要给小孩准备棋，开局。其实还是每天自己在看的。就是自己下就少一些，所以你每天看的话，还是有一定的锻炼。
This is very important. Actually I don’s play at the frontline. But I work as a coach. I just finished my training to the world juniorcompetition in Spain last week. So even I don’t play, I prepare the chess for the kids. Actually I watch the chess competition every day. I don’t have any chance to play but I watch every day, so that’s a kind of practice for me.
Q9 What do you think the development of chess in Shenzhen?
象棋活动的发展，您觉得怎么样？
深圳我是第一次看见过这种比赛。在中国深圳这样，我觉得还是不多，很好，很惊讶也挺有意思的。应该继续发展下去。This chess tournament in Shenzhen is the first time I’ve seen this kind of tournament. In China, there are not many cities like Shenzhen. I’m amazed and I think it’s very good, and meaningful. It should continue this good development.
Q10 Do you have any suggestions on how to improve our chess tournament next year?
您对我们的比赛组织有什么建议吗？
我觉得其实你们这个弄得挺好的。我在荷兰的时候，我也在想其实我应该学习。反而要向你们学习，要把这个经验带回去。
I think actually you’ve organized this very well. When I was in Holland, I was thinking that I should learn more. So I should learn from you, I should take your experience back to Holland.
因为在荷兰在好多时候它也是在一种俱乐部里面，在室内里面。那我觉得在这种公共的场合会有更多人的关注，而且在书店这种更文雅的地方。我觉得正是反而我要向你们学习。我觉得挺好。
Because in Holland, this only happens in club or indoor. But I think the tournament in public place like you’ve organized in this beautifuland cultured bookshop will draw more attention. I should learn from you. So I think it’s really good.

Q11 : How do you feel about this tournament?
您感觉这次活动怎么样？
今天这个比赛，中外国际象棋公开赛，特别有意义，已经就是第七年举办这样的比赛，以前在室外做。
Today’s tournament, the international chess open tournament, is meaningful. This is already the 7thyear. You had some outdoor tournaments before.
国际棋联就要开始把一些赛事一些活动，推向商场，推向书城，推向公园，就更多的公共社区去做，刚好到深圳来碰到了这个非常好的例子。然后我来了我就赶紧开始拍照，然后在Twitter里面在FB里面就发，会带给更多的国际上的朋友们去分享这么一个深圳的成果吧。
The FIDEshould organize the tournamentin different places. For example to the shopping mall, book cities, parks and some other public places. It’s very coincident that I come to Shenzhen and have the chance to see such a nice tournament. Ikept taking photos and share this achievement of Shenzhen to international friends through twitter and FB.
Q12 How do you feel?
我们的象棋比赛参加的棋手水平越来越高，参加的人群也越来越广，年龄最大的有70多岁，您有什么感想？
我也觉得很感动。我觉得这个才是最好的社会反应的一个表现。如果你们还没有学国际象棋，那赶紧学习国际象棋吧。
I was also touched.I think this is a very good atmospherefor the society. If you haven’t learned chess yet, please learn it as early as you can!
